THRONES OF BRITANNIA is a unique Total War game that gives you an extreme challenge of rewriting a critical moment in history, one that will shape the future of the British Isles. With ten playable factions, you must build and defend a kingdom of Anglo-Saxons, Gaelic clans, Welsh tribes or Viking colonists. Forge alliances, manage settlements, gather armies, and wage conquest campaigns on the most detailed map of Total War in history.
In 878 AD, the beleaguered English king Alfred the Great has mounted a heroic defence at the Battle of Edington and blunted the Viking invasion. Rejected, but not yet broken, the Nordic warlords have settled in Britain. For the first time in almost 80 years, the earth is in a fragile state of peace.
Throughout this island, the kings of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales feel that a time of change is approaching; A time of opportunity. There will be treaties. There will be war There will be twists of fortune that will become a legend, in a saga that traces the rise of one of the greatest nations in history.
Gameplay Features:
- Choose your strategy. The Great Campaign offers multiple routes to a Glorious Victory; Aggressively expand your territory through force of arms, gain renown through construction, advanced technology and influence, or complete a series of unique objectives based on the story of your chosen faction. Once completed, stay firm for a significant challenge at the end of the game and the final condition of final victory.
- Explore and conquer the British Isles. From the snowy mountains of Scotland to the orchards and meadows of Kent, discover the extent of Anglo-Saxon Britain. Varied towns, cities, and rural settings inspire a host of different battlefield settings. Experiment with the strategic opportunities offered by recently catchable minor settlements. Accelerate the trade routes of your enemies and get them out of strong and defensible positions.
- The Viking warlord or the Anglo-Saxon king define his legend. Each faction will face a series of unique events and branching dilemmas, often based on authentic historical events and issues of the time. Embark on Viking expeditions, manage the Anglo-Saxon peasant economy, each faction feels and plays differently. Create unique roles for your King and Nobles, personalize your impact by making meaningful choices about your development, and determine how your story will unfold.
